About This Project

 The coffee tree originally came from the high plateaus of southern Ethiopia, and Sufi dervishes in Yemen prepared the first drinkable coffee. This still widely used method is the oldest known way of brewing any type of coffee. In time, as public interest grew towards Sufism, coffee spread along pilgrimage routes and became an integral part of socio-cultural and daily life. Concepts like “tolerance”,”hospitality”,”chatting” and “friendship” became synonymous with coffee and they are all included in the cup’s design in certain doses. There is a Turkish saying that “one cup of coffee is worth 40 years of gratitude”. The distinctive, flowing form of Dervish Coffee Cup, inspired by the historical narrative of coffee, also contributes to its functionality.The double-walled porcelain cup ensures a safe grip, making a handle unnecessary.Once together, the two parts transform into a single, fluent form, which prevents any risk of spilling. Moreover, thanks to the curvilinear form of the plate, it is very easy to hold and carry.

“Neither coffee nor coffee shop is the ultimate goal;

Coffee leads to friendly conversation – the true desire of the soul…” –anonymous
